Cassius Eyewear
It may be damp and grey in Europe (well it is here in Berlin anyway) but why let that stop us drooling over a new eyewear release - after all sunglasses are the essential travel accessory.
We just discovered Cassius Eyewear and we are loving the retro 60/70s style. Designed by creative director and founder Jason Ng, Cassius fills a niche for avid vintage collectors and eyewear connoisseurs.
Defined by the ideology that logos should be intentionally subtle and that the shape and design of the frames themselves should define the look and feel, Cassius explicitly evokes 20th century systems for scale of architectural proportion and the innovation commonly associated with Walter Gropius and the Bauhaus movement. Cassius applies the sharp clean lines, beautiful solid monochrome colors and classic silhouettes to a range that is individual and editorial, yet subtle and wearable.
Quality production methods - the frames are handcrafted from Italian zyl acetate and integrated titanium spring hinges; and fitted with CR39 protected lenses with a rating of UV400 - and outstanding design will certainly make these must have eyewear.
The last thing the world needs is another Über luxury priced range of sunglasses, so it is refeshing to see that the entire Cassius range is priced at around US $165. Don’t worry though, that doesn’t mean the world and his wife will be wearing them. Like us, Cassius knows that you hate that “cool glasses, I have a pair of them myself” moments, that’s why numbers are limited to only 300 in each style worldwide.
Check out their super cool site CassiusEyewear.com or go straight to their online shop. Expect to see the range in stores from mid-October.
