The George - a piece of England in Hamburg
There’s a new member of Design Hotels™ in town, but it’s not German - at least not in style anyway. Interior designer Sibylle von Heyden of SynergyHamburg chose old, English-style social clubs as her inspiration for The George Hotel, combining classic sensibilities with modern design motifs.
Befitting of an English social club style, the hotel features a library, a smoker’s lounge complete with leather furniture, a sophisticated bar and an impressive restaurant serving Mediterranean fare.
The George boasts 118 rooms, five junior suites and two penthouses, all of which come equipped with flat-screen TV, Internet access, mini-bar and safe, while three grand, timber-floored event rooms provide for all business and entertainment needs.
After a day out on the town shopping, site-seeing or admiring Hamburg’s charming Alster Lake – only a few minutes walk from the hotel itself – guests can relax at The George’s light-flooded rooftop spa, an urban retreat in the middle of the bustling Hanseatic City.
